Many laptop users would like to have a large screen-for more extensive cognitive work (multiple document windows, large spreadsheets), watching video or games, for example-but are worried about the weight of a typical 17-inch device. If you fall into this category, the LG Gram 17 laptop may be for you. It weighs a staggering 1.35 kg (although the model with separate Nvidia graphics comes in at 1.95 kg). Moreover, despite the slim and lightweight magnesium alloy body, the LG G17 is strong for the MIL-STD 810G standard.
The screen is a 17-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 16: 10 of 2560 by 1600 pixels (177.6 DPI). Variants are available with support for 99% of the DCI-B3 color gamut or, for less demanding use cases, 96% of the sRGB. The large-area chassis provides plenty of space for a backlit keyboard, a separate number pad and a large 16:10 touchpad.
On the LG website in the US, all available models run on a single run on the 11th generation Intel Core i 7-1165 G7, from a configuration with discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650ti graphics with 4 GB of dedicated video memory to one with 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB (2 * 1 TB) of SSD storage.
The pros:
- 17-inch screen
- Military-grade construction
- Excellent color accuracy
- 10-key keyboard
- Excellent battery
Cons::
- The oldest Nvidia GeForce GPU
