New Delhi: Google celebrates the 171st anniversary of the birth of inventor Angelo Moriondo, who is considered the godfather of espresso machines with an artistic doodle. Moriondo is credited with patenting the oldest known espresso machine in 1884.

Google Doodle, which was created by Olivia when features Jeff from the first known espresso machine he has painted with coffee.

Angelo Moriondo, born on June 6, 1851, in Turin, Italy, belongs to a family of entrepreneurs "who have never stopped brewing new ideas or projects," Google said in a note about the extraordinary inventor. Moriondo's grandfather founded a liquor production company that was then run by his father. Moriondo also built the famous chocolate company" Moriondo and garlic " with his brother and cousin.

Coffee was at the peak of its popularity in Italy during the innovator period. But coffee lovers faced severe inconvenience as they had to spend a lot of time waiting for the coffee to brew.

"Once Upon a Time, in 19th century Italy, coffee was the hottest item around. Unfortunately, brewing methods required customers to wait more than five minutes to get their drink. Enter Angelo Moriondo, the man who patented the first known espresso machine".

The Moriondo espresso machine was exhibited at the Turin public exhibition in 1884 and received a bronze medal.

The Moriondo machine that calmed the difficulties faced by coffee drinkers consisted of a large kettle that pushed hot water through a bed of ground coffee and a second kettle that produced steam that would flash the coffee bed and complete the drink. The invention was then confirmed by an international patent after being registered in Paris on October 23, 1885.

Happy 171st birthday, Angelo Moriondo.
