Mobile professionals ask a lot from laptop designers: a usable and functional combination of lightweight and flexible configuration, robust construction, connectivity, security, battery life, and design credibility. It's a tall order to shoe it all in one product, but HP gives it the perfect go with the 13.3-inch Dragonfly elite. We were very impressed with the first generation of elite Dragonfly, and at CES 2021, HP announced elite Dragonfly G2 and elite Dragonfly Max, based on Intel's latest generation 11 processors, both of which are now available.
Elite Dragonfly G2 ticks most of the boxes for mobile professionals who don't mind paying for a premium device that could top 5000 if you max out on options. It has an elegant structure under 1kg with MIL-STD 801G durability and 360 degrees FD (non-touch/tactile) or OD (tactile) screen. The spill-resistant backlit keyboard works well, stably, and is not too high, while the multi-touch glass touchpad works smoothly, as do the built-in mouse buttons. Options include mobile broadband (4G LTE or 5G), a Wacom s pen 2.0, and integrated Tile tracking, there is an Electronic Privacy slider for HD (720px) IR camera. Video calls are well served by the combination of a webcam, a set of 3 microphones, and a 4 speaker system, and both standard (38 Wh) and long-life (56 Wh) batteries are available-the latter to service the energy-hungry 4K (Ultra HD) screen.
The pros:
- Great for mobile professionals
- Military-grade durability
- Touch screen options
- LTE connection options
Cons::
- Very expensive configurations can be obtained
- A fairly short battery life with the highest configurations
